Now it's time to ask some questions to Par Sundstrom, bass-player of the swedish heavy metal band Sabaton, recently came out with "Metalizer", after so many problems and controversies. But now new perspectives are coming...4 albums on their shoulder (3+"Fist for fight demo-album) with growing interest around them , an upcoming tour and the possibilities to spread "true-metal" all over Europe...

Hi guys !! Here is Marco from A Dream in Steel Webzine, it's nice to have good times in asking you some questions ….So, let's start……. "Metalizer" is finally out !! But it is curious to see that it would had been your debut-album after "Fist for fight" demo-cd; what's your feelings about "Metalizer"? Do you think that's an album representing at best what SABATON are today in 2007?

The Metalizer doesn't really represent us and the music we make now. The whole idea was to show to our fans what actually happened during the long break between FFF and Primo Victoria. How the band developed in both sound and songwriting.

Can you tell me what exactly happened with the italian label Underground Symphony ? I must confess…. you are not the only band having problems with them, i saw with my eyes several bands waiting 3 years to see their album out...

Well, that's kind the problem that we had too……nothing happened. We tried to push them to make the release but they always came with lame excuses. But now that's a finished chapter and we have moved on with our current label (Black Lodge).

ok, now all the shadows seems to be behind, you have an up-coming european tour with norwegian metal -fellows Thunderbolt, starting on May and touching Poland , Germany , Spain , England .... and Italy ?? When will we have the pleasure to see you in Italy ?

Hopefully soon. But I don't know when, since we are pretty much booked up for the rest of the year. So I think that it would be sometime in 2008 that we would actually have the time to show up.

In your opinion, what's the better and the worst side to be on live-tour ?

Those things differ from time to time. Much is about the people you go with. If you have good people around you don't think so much about the bad stuff. The bad things would probably be that you're not at home very much and not See your friends too often. The good things are…….the rest I guess.

Have you some anecdote or curiosity about something happened during your past tours?

There have happened so many things during our touring. But somehow it's hard to find out what to tell about for the people who wasn't there. I think it's better to catch me sometime when I've had a few beers and talk to me…..I usually Remember all the funny stuff then. Right now I'm too sober I guess. Haha!

Some days ago i took a look to your official website, and i saw a news about "Metalizer" charts position....reached number 1 position on Swedish Hard Rock charts and #21 on swedish album charts.....unthinkable in Italy for a metal band, except for great names like Iron Maiden, Metallica etc…….to you, why heavy metal is so loved in Sweden ?

I have no idea why metal is so popular here. I think it has to do with that fans here are devoted And really support the bands they like by buying their albums, and here it's no problem to Get your hands on the albums you want because almost all bands have good distribution here.

Thinking about your career beginning, what's the difficulty to be an heavy metal band?

There are many difficulties with it. I think the biggest one is economics. It's hard to get to earnmoney on being in a metal-band. But hopefully there will come a time when we can manage to make some kind of living out of this. I personally think it would be great just if we could make enough money so it would be possible to cut down on working and still be able to pay the rents. I'm not doing this to be able to live a good life, I do it because I love it.

What's your personal dreams as musician and goals you want to reach with Sabaton?

Well, I think I mentioned that in the last question. If it was possible to make enough money to be able to cut down on work and do music along. To get a healthy balance on that would be the best thing.

Can you reveal some anticipations about Sabaton's future ? Have you written something for the next studio-album?

The composing has started and some of the songs are almost finished. I don't know if I Can say much more than that. But the material I've heard so far sounds very promising.

What about your listening taste ? Apart "big names", is there some young heavy metal band provoking you curiosity?

Well, my musical taste differs quite much from Joakins who write the songs. He listen to bands like Accept,Rainbow and those more classical heavy metal bands. I listen to a bit more different music. Like Porcupine Tree, Stratovarius , Opeth, Strapping Young Lad and so on.

The whole band consists of a big collection of different musicstyles, but we have the thing in common that we like to play the music that we make…….and I guess that's what counts in the ending.

Now i give you the chance to end this interview by saying whatever you want.. but before you do this...i give you my best regards and say "thank you" for the time you spent with A DREAM IN STEEL. metal webzine….

What should I say then?! Rock on!!!!
